Here's some simple ways to get breakfast in, and why you need it, to set your day right.

To me, breakfast is the most important part of your diet. It didn't always be, but as I started understanding the way the body works, in such a fascinating way, I came to the conclusion, I needed to make time to eat breakfast.
In the morning, you have just come off of a "fast" as your body slept and cleansed during the night. Your body is now ready to begin its day.
“Breakfast restores your supply of nutrients to enhance your energy levels and alertness, while also providing other essential benefits required for good health”
When you eat breakfast, your body begins restoring blood sugars, and revs up your metabolism, which helps you burn calories and gives you the energy you need to focus and motivation to get going. Breaking the fast upon waking will also help you make better food choices between morning and noon. You're not ravishing, and grabbing whatever you can find to get you through to lunchtime. When choosing what to have in the morning, think about what would nourish you, satisfy you, and give you what your body is truly craving. There are many options, but here are some ideas to get you thinking....
Smoothies - Think berries, coconut water, nut milk/butter, papaya, greens (spinach/kale/mint), add in some powdered nutrients such as green powders, collagen, or powdered forms of dehydrated berries, hemp seeds, chia - the possibilities are endless.
Power Balls - These can come in many varieties, and the ingredients vary. These are great to replace processed breakfast bars, and can be made ahead of time, and even frozen.
Muffins/Breads - These can be either really good, or really bad. When buying from a store, they are usually packed with lots of sugar, wheat and processed oils. However, when made at home, it can be very nourishing, healthy and satisfying to your body. (see recipe below)
Eggs - There are so many ways to cook up some eggs, but my favorite would have to be with avocado! Just slice open an avocado, mash onto a plate, cook up an egg, put on top, then, sprinkle with your favorite seasonings! I like to make baked sweet potato slices ahead of time, pop them in the toaster, then use to top or scoop up the deliciousness!
Better for you Banana Bread
This recipe is both tasty and healthy. A great way to start your day! Just make ahead and you'll have on hand for the week.
